La chaîne d’assurage
Une chaîne d’assurage est au minimum constituée par un point d’encrage, un mousqueton, une corde et le baudrier de celui qui est assuré.
D’autres éléments, tels que sangles, cordelette, coinceurs, broches à glace etc…, peuvent faire partie d’une chaîne d’assurage. Il est important d’avoir toujours à l’esprit que…
…la solidité d’une chaîne d’assurage est égale à son maillon le plus faible !
Partant de cette constatation, un relais constitué de deux broches à glace, deux mousquetons et une cordelette de 4 mm de diamètre n’est qu’illusion.

Based on this observation, a belay made up of two ice screws, two karabiners and a 4 mm diameter rope is nothing but an illusion.
