Having hiked in the mountains for many years, and walked many trails, particularly in the Val d’Anniviers, I’ve often been surprised to find that I can’t keep to the times shown on the signs. Am I really that out of shape, or is there a problem with the posted times? I asked a guide in the region. It turns out that the timetables in question are calculated by computer.
So it would seem that the calculation programme, which is inhuman by nature, prioritises achievement over pleasure.
If you want to avoid late returns or excessive fatigue,
add 10-20% to the times indicated (especially with children)
