Départ et montée au refuge

 

Le départ

Indiquer où l’on va et, une fois parti, ne pas changer de but. Si deux ou trois possibilités sont envisagées, les indiquer toutes.

Avant de quitter la maison vérifier le matériel et l’équipement en utilisant une check-list.

Choisir l’heure du départ pour éviter une montée au refuge en plein soleil et/ou une arrivée trop tardive.

Si pour une raison quelconque, le but est modifié au départ de la voiture ou du train, penser à téléphoner ou à laisser un mot, glissé derrière le pare-brise, pouvant ainsi orienter des recherches dans la bonne direction.

La montée au refuge

En général, la montée au refuge se fait sur sentiers. Pas de fatigue inutile. Garder les forces pour le lendemain.

Eviter de monter au plus chaud de la journée. Choisir l’heure du départ en conséquence.

Partir lentement. Tenir compte du compagnon le plus lent. Marcher régulièrement, sans prendre de raccourci. Eviter les haltes trop fréquentes qui cassent le rythme et font perdre du temps.

Les haltes se feront si possible au soleil, à l’abri du vent et à l’abri des dangers objectifs. Attention à ne pas prendre froid à cause de vêtements rendus humides par la transpiration.

Dans les refuges, le souper est servi relativement tôt (autour de 18h). Il est bon d’arriver avant.

The departure

Indicate where you are going and, once you have set off, do not change your goal. If two or three possibilities are envisaged, indicate them all.

Before leaving the house, check the materials and equipment using a checklist.

Choose the time of departure to avoid climbing to the refuge in full sun and/or arriving too late.

If, for any reason, your destination changes when you leave the car or train, remember to telephone or leave a note behind the windscreen, so that you can point the search in the right direction.

The climb to the hut

In general, the ascent to the hut is on footpaths. Don’t tire yourself out unnecessarily. Save your strength for the next day.

Avoid climbing during the hottest part of the day. Choose your departure time accordingly.

Start slowly. Take the slowest companion into account. Walk regularly, without taking shortcuts. Avoid frequent stops that break the rhythm and waste time.

If possible, rest stops should be in the sun, out of the wind and away from objective hazards. Be careful not to catch a chill from clothing made damp by perspiration.

In the huts, supper is served relatively early (around 6 pm). It’s a good idea to arrive early.
